I like to use what is called EQyss Micro-Tek pet shampoo stops odor/itching guaranteed (veternarian recommended) I have talked about the difference between Types of skin allergys and really has more to do with foods and cleaners we use but when I give Toby a bath at times he will get like tiny hard pimple like bumps in between the folds on his body,Grant it he has alot of wrinkles but I use this product before a show..for one it does not dry his skin and two it treats it as well. When we first purchased toby he was fed Beneful:ohmy: he smelled like an old sock and had no hair due to allergys from the food. Once we changed him over we saw results. In the first month of owning Toby he broke out on the back of his neck with a few hard pimle like bumbs and then started seeing a fleshy oozing from these....Turned out to be Folliculitis which is a skin disorder that are
particular to the breed. However, some of them are hard to identify and
only become recognizable when exacerbated by your dog’s reactions (i.e.
biting, scratching, etc.). These disorders can include folliculitis and
fold dermatitis. Folliculitis is an infection that occurs within the
hair follicles. It manifests visibly as small red or white bumps on the
skin. Fold dermatitis happens as a result of moisture trapped within
folds of the skin. As those folds continuously rub together, bacteria
can cause an infection, making the area appear inflamed. He was seen by Dr John and confirmed. Since the changes to his diet he has now knock on wood has not had another reaction. That is how I found out about this shampoo as well taking precausions in hopes it wouldnt happen again. Diet plays a big role in almost every ailment in the bulldog that is why I have learned through the year nutricien is everything afterall you are what you eat! | |
